Dr Marios Papadopoulos

Dr Marios Papadopoulos graduated with first class honours from Cambridge, and continuted his clinical medicine studies in Oxford. He obtained an MD in neuroscience from Cambridge. He completed his neurosurgery Specialist Registrar training at Atkinson Morley Hospital, Hurstwood Park Neurological Centre and the University of California at San Francisco. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Surgical Neurology.
Dr Papadopoulos heads a research laboratory at St. George’s, University of London. He published several research papers on aquaporin water channels and their roles in brain and spinal cord swelling. He also leads a clinical study (ISCoPE) aiming to devise novel surgical techniques to improve the outlook of patients with spinal cord injury.
Dr Papadopoulos has been a Consultant Neurosurgeon at St George’s Hospital in London since 2006 and has a large clinical practice.
