How to prepare for an Evoked Potential

Before any appointment, you will be assessed by a Clinical Physiologist. This may be done in advance of your test or on the test day itself. All test results will be reviewed by the consultant who will explain them to you during your follow-up appointment.

  • Have something to eat within 2 hours before the appointment to avoid periods of low blood sugar
  • Arrive in good time with clean hair, free from grease, hair spray, hair gels etc.
  • Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing that can give easy access to the areas that need to be tested
  • Continue to take any medication as usual and remember to bring a list of current medication with you
